I'm Jean Richland and Majestic Court Lowchen. My
introduction to Lowchen was spending three days sitting on the
floor studying four five-week-old puppies. From this point on, I
was totally enamored of the breed and selected my first male.
I started my exhibiting and breeding career back 1961 with
Keeshonden, moved to the Bearded Collie and on to the
Lowchen. It must be something about that HIGH TAIL SET!
Melita Road Bearded Collies, my Beardie Kennel, was the first
in California to import the Beardie from England in 1968. I
was actively involved in promoting the Bearded Collie breed to
AKC Miscellaneous Status. I began showing my foundation
stock in the early 70's. Credited with over 50 champions, mostly
breeder/owner handled , I still have an occasional litter of
Beardies as well as the Lowchen. Both breeds are the love of my life.
My home is always open to visitors to view and enjoy playing
with my Lowchen and Beardies. My companion and show dogs
live in my home. I don't believe in kennels. My puppies are born
and raised in my bedroom and classical music is played 24/7. I
tried 50's music with one litter and they were a little hyper...so
from that point on, the three B's and all other classical
composers lull my puppies into relaxed, laid back darlings.
HEALTH CLEARANCE: Prior to breeding any of my dogs, they are
tested for PRA and other eye problems. They are not bred if
they can't be certified with a CERF Certificate. The same is true
of Patella Luxation They must pass the OFA Examination prior
to breeding. These two test improve the chances of the puppy
buyer starting out with a Healthy and Happy puppy.
Majestic Court does not ship dogs. If you want one of "Grandma
Jean's" puppies, it is necessary to fly in and meet your new baby
and take him or her home in a Sherpa bag in the cabin of the
plane. Lowchen puppies are small enough to fit in the sherpa
and Beardie puppies will fit from seven to eight weeks...a very
short window period.
